The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has introduced a new toll-free LASTMA hotline, 3367, to improve emergency response, strengthen traffic management and enhance public accountability across Lagos State. The agency said the platform replaces its previous long-service code with a simpler communication channel that enables residents to report traffic incidents at no cost.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq, LASTMA explained that the new LASTMA hotline is currently available to subscribers on MTN, Glo and 9mobile networks.
According to the agency, the initiative is designed to make it easier for motorists and other road users to quickly notify traffic officials of incidents requiring urgent intervention while improving engagement between the public and the agency.
LASTMA said residents can use the LASTMA hotline to report vehicle breakdowns, road crashes, stranded tankers, disabled articulated vehicles, traffic obstructions and other emergencies affecting traffic flow. The agency added that the platform also provides an avenue for members of the public to report the conduct, professionalism and operational activities of traffic officers as part of efforts to promote transparency, accountability and better service delivery.
To encourage wider participation, callers can communicate with hotline operators in English, Yoruba or Pidgin English, removing language barriers during emergency situations. Speaking on the initiative, LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, described the launch as another step toward building a technology-driven transportation management system.
“The inauguration of the 3367 Toll-Free Short-Code Hotline represents another monumental stride towards institutionalising a safer, more efficient and highly responsive transportation ecosystem across Lagos State.
“It provides residents with a direct, convenient and cost-free channel through which incidents requiring immediate intervention can be promptly reported,” he said. Bakare-Oki noted that the growing size and complexity of Lagos demand proactive traffic management supported by modern technology capable of responding quickly to transportation challenges.
He assured residents that all reports submitted through the LASTMA hotline would be treated professionally and confidentially before being forwarded to the relevant operational teams for immediate action.
The introduction of the new hotline is expected to improve response times to traffic incidents, strengthen public confidence in traffic management operations and encourage greater citizen participation in maintaining order on Lagos roads.
LASTMA urged residents to make full use of the toll-free platform by promptly reporting emergencies and operational concerns, stating that public cooperation remains essential to building a safer, more efficient and accountable transportation system across Lagos State.
