ALGON Vows Renewed Hope Agenda in All 774 LGAs

ALGON vows Renewed Hope Agenda across 774 local government areas, aiming to bring President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s development programme directly to communities.

Association leaders pledged coordinated efforts with state and federal authorities to ensure tangible impact at the grassroots level.

Local governments remain central to service delivery in Nigeria, overseeing primary healthcare, education, infrastructure, and social welfare at the grassroots.

Past gaps in coordination have limited the reach of federal initiatives, making focused programmes like the Renewed Hope Agenda critical.

By committing to the Renewed Hope Agenda, ALGON is reinforcing local governments’ role in translating national policy into practical benefits for citizens.

Collaboration between ALGON, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, and federal agencies ensures that policy intentions reach communities efficiently.

ALGON’s Acting National President, Iliyasu Zakari, who also chairs Agwara Local Government in Niger State, led the inauguration of the association’s leadership in Abuja.

He emphasized the association’s determination to implement the Renewed Hope Agenda effectively in all 774 LGAs.Zakari said:

“Our goal is to ensure that the Renewed Hope Agenda is visible in every ward, community, and local government across Nigeria. This requires active partnership with both state governments and federal agencies.”

Shaban Ohinoyi, ALGON’s Board of Trustees Chairman, described the leadership inauguration as a milestone in strengthening governance structures at the grassroots.

He said the association is now better positioned to support national development objectives, particularly in rural areas.

Senator Simon Lalong, appointed ALGON Patron during the event, highlighted the critical importance of local government autonomy.

He noted that President Tinubu’s advocacy for empowered local councils aligns with the association’s renewed focus on service delivery.

Lalong added that ongoing constitutional reforms could enhance local government efficiency further.

ALGON’s commitment to this Agenda is expected to improve services directly affecting citizens, including infrastructure, healthcare, education, and agriculture.

Effective execution may reduce rural-urban disparities, build public trust in government, and strengthen grassroots political engagement.

For policymakers, this effort signals an opportunity to coordinate federal initiatives with local implementation, ensuring measurable benefits from national programmes.
