Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Monday, March 9, 2026, visited a number of primary and secondary schools in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area to reinforce the resumption of full academic activities on Mondays, a day that had previously been disrupted by forced closures.
For several years, Monday resumption of school and work activities in parts of Anambra State and the wider South‑East region was disrupted by a regular sit‑at‑home order first declared by separatist groups.
In recent months, state authorities have intensified efforts to restore normal academic and economic routines on Mondays.
Soludo’s tour of schools is part of this broader initiative to normalise weekly activities and encourage students and teachers to fully participate in the school week.
Governor Soludo visited several educational institutions in Isuofia, including Community School, Unique Nursery and Primary School, Unique Secondary School, Central School Primary School, Holy Child Secondary School, Community Secondary School, Amaorji Primary School, Ikemee Primary School, and Model Primary School.
During the interactions, the governor spoke directly with students and teachers, describing the presence of learners in classrooms on a Monday as a positive indication that normalcy is returning.
He said Mondays should be treated as important for productivity in both education and economic activities.
Soludo noted the state government’s collaboration with mission authorities in managing returned schools, with the state providing subsidies and support for teachers while mission bodies contribute infrastructure and learning environments.
He also highlighted measures put in place to ensure school administrators record proper attendance records and reiterated the importance of security measures to protect students and staff during school hours.
The governor’s school tour reinforces government directives aimed at reversing the effects of years of Monday sit‑at‑home disruptions, which hindered academic progress and economic activity in the state.
Visible attendance in schools on Mondays may signal increasing compliance with official policies designed to normalise the education calendar and weekly routines.
Enhanced school attendance on Mondays also has implications for parents, educators, and communities seeking stability in education delivery and broader social life, including investor confidence in the state’s ability to maintain consistent operations throughout the week.
