The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders in the maritime and logistics sectors to enable the successful implementation of 24-hour port operations across Nigeria.
According to the service, round-the-clock port operations are essential for improving efficiency, reducing cargo clearance delays, and enhancing trade facilitation within the country’s seaports.
The NCS stated that achieving the goal would require cooperation from government agencies, port operators, freight forwarders, shipping companies, and other stakeholders involved in port activities.
The service explained that seamless coordination among these stakeholders is necessary to address operational challenges and ensure that port services can run effectively on a 24-hour basis.
It added that continuous engagement with industry participants will help identify bottlenecks affecting port operations and support the development of solutions that can improve efficiency in cargo handling and clearance processes.
The NCS reaffirmed its commitment to working with relevant stakeholders to enhance trade facilitation and strengthen Nigeria’s port operations in line with international best practices.
The service emphasized that collaboration remains a key factor in ensuring the success of reforms aimed at improving the ease of doing business and boosting activities at the nation’s ports.
