NDLEA Uncovers Drugs Hidden in Children’s Toys and Garri, Agency Warns Public

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has disclosed that operatives uncovered illicit substances concealed inside children’s toys and cassava granules (garri) during recent operations, the agency said on Sunday.

The discovery was disclosed in a statement shared on X by the Director of Media and Advocacy for NDLEA, Femi Babafemi.

The statement noted that the uncovering of the concealed drugs highlights the methods traffickers use to hide illegal consignments.

NDLEA said operatives found methamphetamine concealed inside Hollandia yoghurt packs and MP3 players, in addition to the drugs hidden within children’s toys and garri, the statement said.

The agency did not provide further detail on quantities or specific locations of seizures in the published notice.

In the statement accompanying a video shared online, Babafemi wrote: “Narco-trends: FYI, children’s toys and our popular cassava granules (Garri) are not spared in their desperation to conceal and traffic illicit substances. Please beware and take a look at how #ndlea_nigeria officers discovered this.”

The agency urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities related to drug trafficking, highlighting that traffickers employ increasingly creative methods to conceal illegal substances.
