President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after completing a two-day state visit to the United Kingdom, with the presidential aircraft touching down on Friday.
The visit marked a significant diplomatic engagement between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
It was described as the first formal state visit by a Nigerian leader to the UK in 37 years, highlighting renewed bilateral relations between both countries.
State visits typically involve high-level meetings, ceremonial events and discussions aimed at strengthening diplomatic, economic and cultural ties between nations.
President Tinubu travelled to the United Kingdom alongside the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, arriving earlier in the week for the official engagements.
During the visit, the Nigerian delegation was hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle, where they received a ceremonial welcome that included an honour guard and carriage procession.
Following the conclusion of the visit, the President and his wife departed London and arrived back in Nigeria on Friday.
Video footage shared by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, showed the presidential aircraft landing.
Senior government officials, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, were present to receive the President and the First Lady upon arrival.
State visits serve as platforms for diplomatic engagement and cooperation between countries. Nigeria’s participation in such engagements reflects ongoing efforts to maintain international relations and partnerships.
High-level visits can also support discussions around trade, investment and collaboration across sectors, although specific agreements from the visit were not detailed in the report.
