Bola Ahmed Tinubu has promoted Ibrahim Kabiru Masari to the position of Special Adviser on Political Affairs, upgrading his earlier role in the presidential administration.
Masari previously served as Senior Special Assistant on Political Affairs after being appointed by President Tinubu in 2023.
His new designation places him among the president’s senior advisers who provide guidance on political strategy and engagement within the administration.
Before joining the presidency, the Katsina-born politician held a leadership position within the All Progressives Congress. He served as the party’s welfare secretary during the tenure of former national chairman Adams Oshiomhole.
His political involvement within the ruling party preceded his entry into federal government service under the current administration.
With the promotion, Masari will now serve as Special Adviser on Political Affairs, working alongside Yau Darazo, who was appointed to the same office by President Tinubu in July 2023.
Special advisers to the president typically provide strategic guidance and coordinate political outreach and policy communication between the presidency and political stakeholders.
The presidency has not indicated any additional changes to the structure of the political affairs advisory office following the promotion.
Masari’s elevation strengthens his role within the presidential advisory team and places him among the senior aides responsible for political coordination within the administration.
The appointment reflects continued adjustments within the president’s support structure as the government manages political engagement across party and governmental institutions.
