Youth Group Rejects Fraud Claims Against IGP, Labels Report Fabricated

A youth advocacy group, the National Youths Assembly for Development (NYAD), has condemned what it described as a fabricated report alleging fraud against the Inspector‑General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, the organisation’s leadership said in a statement.

The group urged the public to disregard the publication and cautioned against spreading unverified information.

NYAD said in the statement that the report being circulated on social media and online platforms contained false and misleading allegations against the IGP, and that no credible evidence supports the claims of fraud. The organisation described the publication as irresponsible and harmful to public trust.

In the statement signed by Comrade Joshua Uduka, President of NYAD, the group emphasised that the IGP has a “longstanding record of service” and that the allegations in the report are not substantiated by any official record.

The group called on journalists, civil society organisations and members of the public to verify information before sharing or reporting to prevent the spread of false narratives.

NYAD also encouraged relevant authorities to take action against individuals or outlets responsible for publishing the alleged fabricated report, highlighting the potential impact of misinformation on public confidence in institutions.
