Thousands of youths from Iwo Federal Constituency on Saturday embarked on a large-scale vote sensitisation rally in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), ahead of the August 15 governorship election. The mobilisation exercise brought together APC supporters from Iwo, Ayedire and Olaoluwa Local Government Areas, who publicly declared their commitment to delivering the constituency for the party during the forthcoming poll.
The rally moved through several major roads and communities, including LA Grammar School, Oke Ibode, Idi Agbede, Ojude Oba, Oke Ode, Olu Ponona, as well as parts of Ayedire Local Government Area, with participants waving party flags, chanting campaign slogans and encouraging residents to participate in the election.
Speaking during the event, the APC candidate for the Olaoluwa State Constituency seat in the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Adegbile Abefe, described the turnout as a clear indication of the confidence many young people have in Oyebamiji’s leadership.
According to him, the gathering demonstrated what he called the growing acceptance of the APC governorship candidate, whom supporters believe possesses the competence required to lead Osun State. Abefe also criticised the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, alleging that it had fallen short of expectations in key sectors, including security, healthcare and road infrastructure.
“We want to prove to the whole world that the youths of Iwo Federal Constituency have rejected the incumbent governor because of what we described as his failed promises. The crowd here today shows the organic love and support the people have for Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji,” he said.
Also addressing participants, the Chairman of Youth Mobilisation in Iwo Federal Constituency, Comrade Muyideen Abdulgafar, expressed confidence that the APC would emerge victorious across the constituency in the governorship election. He alleged that the current administration had not provided adequate infrastructure and security, adding that Oyebamiji has the capacity to address the state’s developmental challenges if elected.
“We are very sure that by August 15, we are going to deliver Iwo Federal Constituency for the APC. Our governorship candidate has what it takes to move Osun State to greater heights,” Abdulgafar stated.
A member of the APC Campaign Council, Yakub Atanda, described the mobilisation as only the beginning of the party’s grassroots campaign efforts.
According to him, approximately 10,000 youths participated in the rally, a turnout he said reflected the growing level of support for the APC candidate ahead of the August 15 governorship election. The vote sensitisation exercise forms part of ongoing political campaigns by parties seeking to mobilise voters across Osun State before residents head to the polls.
