President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Minister of Works, David Umahi, on his 63rd birthday, describing him as one of the most hardworking members of his cabinet and commending his unwavering commitment to delivering quality infrastructure across Nigeria. The President’s goodwill message was conveyed in a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, as Umahi marked his birthday.
In the statement, President Tinubu described the Works Minister as “one of my outstanding, hardworking ministers,” praising his passion for public service and his determination to deliver infrastructure that will benefit Nigerians for generations.
According to the President, Umahi has consistently demonstrated dedication, patriotism and a strong commitment to ensuring that federal road and bridge projects meet approved standards. Tinubu noted that the minister remains actively involved in supervising projects across the country rather than relying solely on reports from officials.
“As a minister, he does not just sit in his office or rely on reports from subordinates; he is constantly on the road, personally monitoring construction work nationwide to ensure compliance with specifications and approvals,” the President stated.
President Tinubu also encouraged the minister to sustain the pace of road construction, rehabilitation and infrastructure development in line with the administration’s broader vision of improving transportation networks and stimulating economic growth.
He said ongoing investments in roads and bridges remain central to improving the quality of life for Nigerians while supporting national development. The President further praised Umahi’s passion for duty and his consistent efforts to ensure that infrastructure projects are executed according to required standards.
Before joining the Federal Executive Council as Minister of Works, Umahi represented Ebonyi South Senatorial District in the Senate. He previously served two consecutive terms as Governor of Ebonyi State between 2015 and 2023, a period during which he became widely known for executing major infrastructure projects across the state. Born on July 25, 1963, Umahi turned 63 years old on Saturday.
President Tinubu concluded his message by wishing the minister continued good health, strength and wisdom as he continues serving the country.
He also extended his warm wishes to Umahi’s family, expressing confidence that the minister would remain committed to advancing the administration’s infrastructure agenda.
