The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Adeola, has congratulated the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, on his inauguration as Chairman of the Ogun Council of Obas.
Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, described the emergence of Oba Gbadebo as a significant development for the traditional institution and the wider state. The inauguration took place on Wednesday at the Oba’s Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, and was officiated by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Traditional rulers from the 20 local government areas of the state attended the ceremony. Oba Gbadebo’s emergence followed the expiration of the tenure of the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, who previously chaired the council.
The Ogun State Council of Obas plays an advisory role to the state government, particularly on matters concerning socio-economic development and traditional institutions. In his congratulatory message, Adeola said the new chairman’s wealth of experience and wisdom positioned him to provide effective leadership to the council.
He also highlighted Oba Gbadebo’s longstanding contributions to peace, unity and development in Egbaland and Ogun State. According to Adeola, the Alake’s leadership could further strengthen cooperation between traditional institutions and government.
He expressed optimism that such collaboration would contribute to peace, unity and development across Ogun State. Adeola further prayed for divine guidance and good health for the traditional ruler as he assumes his new responsibility.
He said: “we heartily congratulate our revered royal father, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, CFR, on his inauguration as the new Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas.”
Adeola described the Alake as a highly respected traditional ruler and custodian of the culture, traditions and values of his people. He wished Oba Gbadebo greater wisdom, strength, sound health and longevity as he leads the council.
The APC candidate said the traditional institution remained an important partner in efforts to maintain stability and advance development in Ogun State. He expressed confidence that the new leadership of the Ogun Council of Obas would deepen the relationship between the government and traditional rulers while supporting the interests of communities across the state.
