The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has introduced a new online system enabling candidates seeking admission through the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, to verify and upload their O’Level results from home.
The initiative initially covers results issued by the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, and is aimed at reducing candidates’ reliance on Computer-Based Test, CBT, centres. Under the new arrangement, candidates can have their examination results electronically verified directly with the relevant examination body before the results are uploaded to their JAMB profiles.
JAMB said the system would make the process faster, easier and more secure while reducing mistakes associated with manual result uploads. The Board also said the digital process would help guard against the submission of fraudulent or unverified results, misplaced certificates and errors involving subjects and grades.
In a statement issued Monday, JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, explained that the development formed part of the Board’s efforts to simplify admission-related procedures for candidates.
Candidates seeking to use the new O’Level result upload service must first obtain a Result Verification Code through the designated result verification portal. The process requires candidates to provide their National Identification Number, NIN, and indicate the number of O’Level sittings they have. They must also select the relevant examination body or bodies and provide their email address and GSM number.
After completing the required information, candidates are expected to make payment through the available payment gateway. They will then provide their examination number, examination series and examination year for verification.
Once the verification is successfully completed, JAMB will issue the candidate a Verification Code. Candidates must subsequently send “VERIFY” followed by the Verification Code to 55019 or 66019. JAMB said candidates would receive a notification confirming that their result had been verified and submitted.
Candidates with two O’Level sittings are required to log into their JAMB e-Facility dashboard and select “2026 UTME O’Level Upload.”
They should enter the Verification Code issued after the result verification process. Once the code is accepted, their two verified results will be displayed on the platform. Candidates can then select the subjects and grades they wish to submit.
According to JAMB, candidates must select at least five and not more than nine subjects, while ensuring that no subject is selected more than once. After making the required selections, candidates should click “Apply the O’Level Results” to complete the process. A notification will be sent to the candidate once the upload has been successfully completed.
JAMB said the new service would be particularly beneficial when CBT centres experience long queues, heavy patronage or network-related difficulties. The Board explained that candidates would no longer need to make unnecessary physical visits to CBT centres for the verification and upload process covered by the new system.
The initiative, JAMB said, forms part of its broader digital transformation programme aimed at moving more admission-related services online. The Board encouraged candidates to make use of the new system to complete the relevant processes remotely and reduce their dependence on CBT centres.
