Residents of Kogi State have expressed their intention to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in future elections, attributing their decision to ongoing infrastructure projects they say have improved living conditions across the state.
The declaration was made during a visit by members of the Presidential Media Team and the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) to inspect completed and ongoing federal and state projects in Yagba West Local Government Area.
Speaking during the visit, the Commissioner for Environment and Ecological Management, Dr. Joseph Oluwasegun, said the people of Egbe and surrounding communities have witnessed significant development under the current administration, particularly through various Kogi infrastructure projects.
According to him, Governor Ododo has overseen the construction of about 15 kilometres of internal roads in Egbe, while the community has also benefited from improved schools, healthcare facilities and greater political representation through appointments into key government positions. Oluwasegun noted that Governor Ododo’s two visits to Egbe marked a historic moment for the community, describing the engagements as unprecedented.
He said the projects executed by the state government were made possible through the support provided by President Tinubu, including increased funding for states and the establishment of the North Central Development Commission, which is expected to accelerate regional development. The commissioner added that residents intend to demonstrate their appreciation by voting for both leaders in the next election cycle.
Also speaking, Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area, Ologun Tosin, commended the rapid execution of the newly constructed roads, saying the project has reduced travel time, improved safety and enhanced economic activities within the area.
He maintained that the people of Egbe would reciprocate the developmental efforts through their support at the polls. Director-General of the Kogi State Road Maintenance Agency, Engr. Bolaji Taye, explained that although the road projects were executed through direct labour to minimise costs, quality was not compromised.
According to him, the roads were constructed to international standards to ensure durability and long-term service. Leading the inspection team, Special Adviser to the President on Public Communication and head of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Chief Sunday Dare, reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to expanding critical infrastructure nationwide.
He stated that the Tinubu administration remains focused on improving transportation networks and other public infrastructure to stimulate economic growth and improve citizens’ quality of life. Dare disclosed that the Federal Government recently awarded additional road contracts in Kogi and several other states as part of efforts to improve connectivity and ease the movement of people and goods.
During an inspection of sections of the Kabba–Egbe–Omuaran Federal Highway, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Engagement, Fredrick Nwabufo, said the administration was prioritising the rehabilitation of strategic roads across the country. He noted that several infrastructure projects are currently underway nationwide to address long-standing transportation challenges and support national development.
Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, also commended the Federal Government for awarding the reconstruction contract for the highway, describing it as a major intervention on a road that had previously deteriorated and disrupted movement. Members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors are currently touring Kogi infrastructure projects to assess the progress of federal and state government interventions across the state.
