Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has urged Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to sustain good governance and continue meeting the needs of residents. Obasanjo made the call during a congratulatory visit to Adeleke following the governor’s victory in the Osun governorship election.
The former President visited Adeleke at his country home in Ede, where he congratulated him on securing another term in office. The visit was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.
During the visit, Obasanjo encouraged Adeleke to remain focused on delivering what he described as the dividends of democracy to the people. He also prayed for further success for the governor as he begins another term.
“Continue to deliver good governance. Continue to meet the needs of your people,” Obasanjo told Adeleke.
The former President’s message centred on the need for the governor to maintain his commitment to the welfare of Osun residents.
Adeleke, who was reportedly surprised by the former President’s visit, expressed appreciation for the gesture. The governor thanked God and the people of Osun State for the election victory. He also pledged to remain committed to serving the people who gave him another mandate.
“Baba, I thank you for this surprise visit. I promise never to disappoint God, Osun people and all lovers of democracy who made our victory possible,” Adeleke told Obasanjo.
The governor was accompanied by the Deputy Governor of Osun State, Prince Kola Adewusi, during the visit. The statement also noted a lighter moment during the meeting, as Obasanjo and Adeleke shared dance steps at the governor’s country home in Ede.
The visit came shortly after Adeleke secured re-election, with the former President offering his congratulations and encouragement as the governor prepares to continue leading the state.
