A video released by suspected Boko Haram fighters appears to show dozens of women, children and a nursing mother allegedly abducted during a deadly attack on Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, authorities and media reported.
On February 4, 2026, suspected gunmen attacked Woro and adjacent villages, killing residents and displacing others in one of the recent violent incidents in parts of Kwara North.
Security agencies and government officials have previously been working to investigate the assault and locate missing persons, while families seek information about abducted loved ones.
In the footage circulating online, armed men appear to interrogate captives seated in rows, questioning them about where they were taken.
Several women in the video, responding in Hausa, identified Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area as the location from which they were abducted.
The video shows a large group of captives, including women and at least one nursing mother, amid armed men, with some of the captives visibly distressed.
An individual in the footage makes claims regarding the number of abductees and alleges that government statements understated the scale of the incident.
The Commissioner for Communications in Kwara State, Bolanle Olukoju, said the government is analysing the video with security agencies to identify the individuals shown and determine accurate information.
She said some persons initially reported missing have since reunited with their families, and others may have temporarily relocated to neighbouring communities.
The release of the video follows a major violent attack on Woro community that left scores of residents dead and others missing, prompting continued coordination between government and security agencies to clarify the fate of abducted persons.
Review of the footage by authorities and engagement with community leaders aims to establish identities of those shown and assist relatives seeking information.
