eTranzact financial inclusion efforts have gained momentum in Ogun State as the fintech company expanded its PocketMoni initiative across Obafemi Owode Local Government Area. The programme includes the onboarding of more than 1,000 agents and the deployment of thousands of PocketMoni terminals to improve access to digital financial services in underserved communities.
The expansion is being implemented through the company’s PocketMoni Business platform in partnership with the Zonal Community Development Committee (CDC) of Obafemi Owode. The initiative aims to bring banking services closer to residents while creating new income opportunities for local entrepreneurs and small business owners.
With the increasing network of agents and terminals, residents can now carry out routine financial transactions within their communities. These services include cash withdrawals, money transfers, bill payments and other digital banking operations, reducing the need to travel long distances to access financial institutions.
Chairman of the Zonal Community Development Committee, Obafemi Owode, Engineer Gboyega Kareem Adeleke, described the project as a significant milestone for the local government. According to him, eTranzact financial inclusion initiatives are already making a noticeable difference in residents’ daily lives.
“Before PocketMoni came, our people had to travel far for simple withdrawals and bill payments. Today, those services are available within our communities through people we know and trust. This is development that directly impacts lives, and we commend eTranzact for bringing these opportunities to the grassroots.”
Divisional Head of Financial Inclusion at eTranzact International Plc, Olalekan Disu, said the project demonstrates the value of delivering financial services directly to local communities. He explained that the programme extends beyond providing access to banking products by supporting economic participation and job creation.
“Financial inclusion is not just about opening access to financial products; it is about creating opportunities and building trust within communities. By empowering local agents and deploying thousands of terminals, we are helping to stimulate economic activity, create livelihoods and make financial services more accessible to people at the grassroots.”
The eTranzact financial inclusion programme reflects ongoing efforts to bridge the financial access gap between urban and rural communities. By expanding digital payment infrastructure and strengthening community-based agency banking, the initiative is expected to improve financial accessibility while supporting local economic growth across Obafemi Owode and surrounding communities.
