Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has officially submitted her Natasha PDP nomination form at the Peoples Democratic Party national secretariat in Abuja, confirming her intention to seek re-election for the Kogi Central Senatorial District seat in 2027. The lawmaker arrived at the PDP headquarters alongside supporters and political associates as preparations for the next election cycle continue gaining momentum across major political parties. The submission of her nomination form has already attracted attention within Kogi political circles ahead of what is expected to be a highly competitive senatorial contest.
Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan currently represents Kogi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party. Since her emergence in the Senate, she has remained one of the most visible lawmakers from North Central Nigeria, particularly through her interventions on governance, social advocacy, and constituency development matters.
Her political profile also expanded following her prolonged public disagreement with Senate President Godswill Akpabio on legislative and governance-related issues. Political observers note that her visibility within national politics has strengthened her support base across sections of Kogi Central.
The submission of the Natasha PDP nomination form follows her earlier decision to purchase the party’s nomination and expression of interest forms. According to statements from her media team, the senator’s second-term ambition is anchored on consolidating projects and programmes already initiated within the district.
Speaking shortly after submitting her nomination documents, Akpoti-Uduaghan thanked members of her constituency and the PDP for what she described as continued support and confidence in her leadership. She stated, “I remain committed to the service of my people and the advancement of democratic values. This journey is not about personal ambition alone, but about sustaining purposeful representation, youths and women empowerment and ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every community.”
The senator further explained that her legislative priorities remain focused on infrastructure, healthcare, education, and economic opportunities across Kogi Central. She added that ongoing development initiatives would continue if re-elected for another term.
The Natasha PDP nomination form submission also comes amid growing political speculation surrounding possible challengers from the ruling All Progressives Congress. Reports have linked former Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello to possible interest in the senatorial seat, although no formal declaration has been made.
Akpoti-Uduaghan said, “We have started a movement of hope, inclusion, and progress. By the grace of God and the support of our people, we shall continue to build a future where every citizen feels represented and valued.”
The early submission of nomination documents reflects increasing political activity ahead of the 2027 elections nationwide. Analysts note that early declarations often allow candidates to strengthen grassroots mobilisation, fundraising structures, and constituency engagement before party primaries begin fully.
Within Kogi State, the Natasha PDP nomination form submission may further intensify political calculations around Kogi Central, one of the state’s most politically strategic senatorial districts. Political stakeholders are expected to closely monitor developments within both the PDP and APC ahead of the primaries.
Observers also believe the contest may shape broader political alignments within Kogi politics because of the national visibility of some expected contenders. Campaign activities surrounding the district are likely to gain momentum in the coming months. For constituents, the election debate increasingly centres around continuity of representation, infrastructure delivery, youth empowerment, and economic development priorities across communities in Kogi Central.
