The Federal Ministry of Works has advised motorists and other road users to plan their journeys ahead of scheduled repair works on Kara Bridge along the outbound lane of the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
The advisory followed the ministry’s earlier announcement of plans to replace damaged expansion joints on the bridge.
In a statement issued by the Federal Controller of Works in Ogun State, Engr. Olayiwola Komolafe, the repair work is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, and is expected to last two weeks, ending on March 24, 2026.
Motorists travelling from Ikorodu toward Mowe, Sagamu, and Ibadan were advised to use alternative routes through Shimawa or Mosinmi during the repair period.
Road users coming from Lagos Island were also advised to consider the Epe corridor through Ijebu-Ode to reach destinations such as Sagamu, Ibadan, and Mowe.
Komolafe urged motorists to plan their trips carefully and comply with traffic management directives around the repair area. He also advised drivers to exercise caution while approaching the work zone.
The ministry appealed to road users for patience during the repair period and expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the temporary partial closure.
It stated that the maintenance work is aimed at ensuring the safety and durability of the nation’s road infrastructure.
The repair follows an earlier announcement in February by the ministry of a six-week partial closure of the expressway to carry out urgent repairs on expansion joints at Kara Bridge, Magboro Bridge, and Arepo–Punch Bridge.
The work was later suspended after heavy traffic congestion and public complaints, allowing authorities to review traffic management plans and improve public awareness before resuming the repairs.
