Dangote, Trump, Xi Jinping Others Named in TIME 100 Most Influential People List

TIME 100 influential people list has named Nigerian industrialist Aliko Dangote alongside global figures such as U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in its 2026 edition, recognising individuals shaping global politics, business, and public life.

The annual TIME100 list is compiled by TIME Magazine to recognise individuals whose influence is shaping global affairs across politics, business, culture, science, and technology.

The 2026 edition, released on April 15, includes world leaders, business executives, innovators, and cultural figures whose decisions and work continue to impact global systems and economies.

Dangote’s inclusion places him as the only Nigerian on the list, highlighting Africa’s representation in global industrial and economic leadership.

The TIME 100 influential people list features prominent global figures including Donald Trump, Xi Jinping, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, and Pope Leo XIV.

Dangote, founder of the Dangote Group, was recognised in the “Titans” category for his role in advancing industrial development across Africa through investments in cement, agriculture, energy, and infrastructure.

The publication noted his continued efforts in expanding manufacturing capacity and strengthening local production systems across the continent, positioning him as a key driver of Africa’s industrial growth.

This marks his second appearance on the TIME100 list, following his earlier recognition in 2014, reflecting sustained influence over more than a decade.

Other individuals listed span multiple sectors, including technology leaders, entertainers, policymakers, and innovators contributing to global discourse and development.

The TIME 100 influential people list underscores shifting global power dynamics, with increased recognition of leaders from emerging economies and non-Western regions.

Dangote’s inclusion highlights Africa’s growing industrial and economic relevance in global conversations on trade, manufacturing, and development. The list also reflects the interconnected nature of modern influence, where business, politics, and innovation increasingly overlap in shaping global outcomes.
